TN/03/2022 Southern Railway Head Quarters Building Centenary

Southern Railway Headquarters in Chennai, a magnificent heritage structure dating back to the days of the erstwhile Madras & Southern Mahratta Railway, is a confluence of Indo-Saracenic and Dravidian Styles of classic architecture. With the central towers rising 125 feet and 6 inches above the roadway, this mammoth building was built of stock brick with Porbundar Stone. The foundation stone for this magnificent edifice was laid by His Excellency Lord Pentland in 1915 and the building was inaugurated by Her Excellency Lady Wellington in 1922. This special cover is released marking the launch of the Centenary Celebrations of Southern Railway Head Quarters building inaugurated on 11 December 1922 and ongoing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations in Southern Railway.

TN/02/2022 Doyens of Philately

Fondly called “Das Brothers” both G. Madan Mohan Das and G. Balakrishna Das are the founding members of the South Indian Philatelists Association, Chennai in 1956. Under the able stewardship of veteran philatelists like J.N.Copper, R. Wadia and R.F.Shroff, they learnt philately. Over the decade, both had won a number of awards in State, National and International exhibitions.

While Madan Mohan Das served as a Member of the Philatelic Advisory committee of the Department of Posts, Balakrishna Das nurture young Philatelists, created awareness by organizing several promotional activities like seminars and workshops and brought philately close to them. This special cover is released during TN DIGIPEX 2022 in honour of the “Doyens of South India Philately

TN/01/2022 TN DIGIPEX 2022 Virtual Exhibition

Tamilnadu Postal Circle State Level Philatelic Exhibition ‘TN DIGIPIEX 2022’ on virtual mode with tagline is held between 7-9 January 2022 on the theme ‘India’s Rich Cultural Heritage’, under the ambit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahatsov (India@75) programme. The logo of the exhibition is designed with a Kolam art, the emblem of Tamilnadu State and also a ‘Computer Mouse’ and ‘Wifi’ symbol to denote the virtual mode of conduct. This is special cover is released on the inaugural day of TN DIGIPEX 2022.
