Thanjavur M Thyagarajan (28 May 1923 - 27 June 2007) was born in the family of renowned Carnatic musicians. He went on make his own exemplary style of music in a breath taking blend of traditional grammar and deep of Carnatic sangeetham. His unique and uncompromising style made him a song writer, composer, guru and vidwan par excellence. He was awarded the prestigious 'Sangita Kalanidhi' by the Music Academy, Chennai in 1981.
