Paniya Choonthumani is a type of earring worn by the women folk of Paniyas community found in Pandalur and Gudalur Taluks in Nilgiri District of Tamilnadu. The earring made of lucky red seeds (Adenanthera pavonina) known as Choonthumani in Tamil. It is stuck inside a ring of palm leaf using beeswax ("Mayana Kosu Pisin") or gum from Jackfruit tree ("Marathikku"). This special cover is issued under the aegis of AKAM 2.0
